PLYMOUTH CELEBRATES DIVERSITY PAST AND PRESENT

This exciting project began in July 2010 with our Cultural Celebration and Unity Festival on Plymouth Hoe. As part of the programme of cultural activities aimed at teaching young people about the changing face of Plymouth and its rich cultural past and present, a group of young researchers from All Nations Ministries visited Plymouth City Museum World Cultures Collection and shadowed a Museum Curator for one day in October. There are plans to visit the Merchant’s House, the Mayflower Visitors’ Centre and the Elizabethan House in Plymouth and for the young people to organise their own exhibition of African culture as part of future scheduled programme of activities designed to enable young people to learn about their cultural roots and that of the city in which they live. This project was made possible by a grant from the Young Roots programme of the Heritage Lottery Fund.
